GREETING

INTRODUCTION
First of all, let's understand what a youth actually is.
Some people say it is the starting point of dealing with stress and conflict
Some people say it is the stage where the changes on biological and psychological happen which will affect the emotions and human body
Some people say it is the stage where the parents started to give freedom
Some people say it is between childhood and adulthood
Some people say it is between 15 to 25 years old
Some people say it is when a person's reproductive organ become able to function
whereas in Malaysia, the Youth Societies and Youth Development Act 2006 stated that "youth" means a person not less than 15 years and not more than 40 years old.

BODY
Why are we promoting "Our Youth Our Future"?
Firstly, it is because the youths are energetic and full of creativity who are able to change the fate of our existing
Secondly, they are the spring of Life, who are at the age of discovery, dare to dream and willing to accept the challenges
They are also the major contributor to the national economic growth, especially for those developing countries like Malaysia, who help in poverty alleviation
Another reasons is they are diverse, who consist of the secondary school and university students, working groups and also young parents, and play different roles in the society
However, they are considered as the vulnerable group because of their uncertainty in making decisions, easily influenced by friends, easily become emotional and rebellious.

The emphasize of the idea on "sustainability" is actually concerning to the capacity to maintain the strengths of the youth to meet current developments and educate or motivate the future generations who are still the children now to fulfill their own needs in the future.

Therefore, to achieve the theme "Planning for Sustainability"
We, as the town planners, are responsible to provide them a safe and comfortable living environment to release their stress and having joy to live in a close neighborhood with open space for social interactions

We, as the town planners, are responsible to provide them the best facilities and services, such as public libraries and learning institutes, to achieve the target of 100% literacy among the youth;
provide efficient transportation systems and health care centers to save their lives;
and inject ICT into the planning to mainstream youth power in order to make them more adaptable to the trend of globalization

We, as the town planners, are also responsible to think of the solutions to control any rapid urbanizations, which would lead to the growth of slums, poverty, pollutions and the gaps with the suburban and rural areas

We, as the town planners, are responsible to conserve both tangible and intangible heritage, in order to generate the sense of belonging and the sense of green among the youth throughout a series of ongoing awareness campaigns and volunteering programs

We, as the town planners, are responsible to promote various types of the local economic activities, or even the regional economic activities for the youth to obtain their desirable jobs and get away from the crimes and drug addicts

Finally, we, as the town planners who are planning for the people, are responsible to invite the youth to participate actively in the planning process and always put them first before a development has started because they are those who will inherit all the impacts, both positive and negative impacts, including the existing issues on global warming, food crisis and oil crisis.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the youth should have the privilege to involve themselves in the creation and implementation of any sustainable plans. We should provide them the freedom of speech and freedom of association in order to strengthen their capacity and ability in leading all of us towards sustainable development.

I won THIRD prize in English Category!!! What a memorable moment!!!
I know, I am lack of experience and skills in conveying the audience but I am confident my content is the BEST among all the contesters. Hehehe!!!

As a participant, I received a book titled "Malaysia: The Planning of a Nation" which cost RM 150 and a 4GB pendrive as the souvenir!!!
Oh my god!!!
The book was highly recommended by Dr. Ahris and I was thinking to buy a new pendrive because my 512MB pendrive has already spoilt recently...
